Hi, I'm Chelsey!

Marketing and Brand Strategist, Social Media Professional

A branding and marketing professional with over a decade of experience in the higher education, entertainment, and corporate agency worlds, Chelsey's passion lies in providing the tools clients need to create an impactful brand. Leading campaigns to educate around societal issues such as mental health, race, and sexual misconduct, Chelsey's work has enabled countless clients to discuss difficult topics with ease and navigate crises. She has become a trusted advisor on strategy, reputation and producing engaging content for various audiences. She thrives in producing marketing strategy, social media curation, press packages and website design.

Currently serving as the Director of Content Strategy at UNC-Chapel Hill, Chelsey oversees the strategy surrounding the University’s website content, newsletter and flagship social media accounts. For three years, she served as Director of Social Media for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and curated innovative and diverse social content, directed overall strategy, and managed advertising on the university’s flagship accounts.

She advises senior leadership, including the present chancellor, on reputational issues and public sentiment. Using a proven content pillar strategy, her team works to highlight the diversity of Carolina’s student body, promote research and accolades, and provide current and prospective students with the information they need to succeed. In between meetings and coffee runs, Chelsey serves as a University-wide resource on social media strategy and content curation.

Chelsey also served as the Director of Marketing and Communications for North Carolina Central University’s Division of Student Affairs, where she successfully launched a robust YouTube strategy, a team of student content creators, and created a university-wide conference for students to learn valuable skills in marketing and PR.

Since those days cranking out content in her Carolina residence hall when she first began freelancing, Chelsey has been blessed to work in several different subsets, including entertainment marketing with Radio One’s top DJ’s in the NC area.  One of her proudest moments was serving as the Marketing Director for Durham's own Art of Cool Festival for 5 years, handling mergers, press junkets, and national media coverage. In this time, she launched several digital marketing endeavors, and curated city-wide activations working alongside local influencers and businesses.

In 2018, Chelsey began a long-standing working relationship with J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival, as a media advisor, market lead, and activation manager alongside their TX-based team. Additionally, she has curated and managed activations for A3C Festival, Hopscotch Music Festival, and Essence Festival. In 2019, Chelsey joined several Durham entrepreneurs to create Handéwa Farms, an afro-indigenous farm specializing in education, farming instruction, and holistic medicine.

Through the years, Chelsey has discovered a love for equipping businesses with the strategy and tools they need to elevate to the next level.
